NatFem Policy

Payment: The price of a single 45 minute lesson is $125.00/lesson. All lessons are conducted via Skype, and all payments are made through PayPal, pay to the order of zoeywendorf@gmail.com Additionally, students will only pay for lessons which have been scheduled through the NatFem office. Payment for multiple lessons in one sum is not accepted.

Payment is required at least 24 hours prior to our booked session for CURRENT students. Failure to adhere to the payment policy may result in lesson truncation (see truncation clause). Payments made late or on the same day as a lesson will result in a $25 late fee. Some exceptions may be allowed at the teacher’s discretion. For NEW students, payment is required immediately upon booking their first lesson.

Technology: It is the student’s responsibility to be ready at the booked time. You will need BOTH audio and video for the lesson. Double check to make sure Skype is working and that you have audio AND video. It is expected that a student’s Skype name match the preferred name they listed on their registration form. Alternative names will not be tolerated.

Vocal Health Clause: It is recommended that all students check with their doctor before starting any vocal training regime to ensure they are in good vocal health. In becoming a student, The student agrees not to hold Zoey, Natfemvoice, or any of it’s affiliates accountable in the rare case of vocal injury.

Classroom Environment: All lessons are to be conducted in a QUIET environment without interruption, additionally if the student is using their phone for the Skype lesson, it is required that the phone be mounted or otherwise stationary. Attending a lesson while driving is against the law and will not be tolerated. If the student has a question or would like to make a comment during the lesson, it is required they raise their hand and wait to be acknowledged to indicate this. Consistent Interruption without raising a hand may result in lesson truncation (see truncation clause).

Student attire must be classroom appropriate. Pajamas and casual wear are fine, but nothing revealing.

Any pictures, videos, or other media shared, or on display, during lessons must be classroom appropriate.

Formal Honorifics: Due to the fact that learning online is inherently informal, it is important to introduce formality to maintain an educational atmosphere. As such, we request that students refer to their teachers using formal honorifics (ie. Ms. Smith)

Cancellation: All cancellations must be emailed to zoeynatfemvoice@gmail.com. Cancellations sent via Skype, or any other method, will not be accepted. Sessions cancelled within 24 hours, or session no-shows are billed at the regular lesson rate and must be paid prior to our next session. However, sessions cancelled prior to 24 hours, can be rescheduled 1 time at no additional cost. Lessons that are rescheduled as a result of discussions between teachers and students will count toward this. Additional instances of rescheduling for the same lesson will be charged at the normal lesson price. Once a lesson is cancelled by a student, that cancellation cannot be rescinded. If a lesson is cancelled by NatFem, a refund will be immediately issued. This is to prevent a student’s payment from getting “lost in the system.” As a note, pro bono lessons can be rescheduled, but are only valid within 30 days of the original, scheduled time slot.

Mutual Respect Clause: The work we are doing here is intimate, personal, and difficult and may bring up a lot of emotions. As such it’s important that both the teacher and the student feel safe emotionally and mentally. If at any point either party is not feeling safe, the expectation is that we will directly address the issue in order to resolve the problem. We encourage both students and teachers to mention any topics or situations with which they feel uncomfortable, so that both parties can agree on an accepted protocol toward them. Examples of this include, but aren’t limited to: Sensitivity to body image and avoiding conversation about it or avoiding conversations about politics. Setting these boundaries will help to maintain a classroom environment and make it a safe space for learning. Additionally, we must know about any medical conditions which may cause ticcing or other behaviors that could be misinterpreted. This is important so that we can anticipate our students’ needs. Examples of these conditions include, but aren’t limited to: Tourette Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Finally, we ask that everyone refrain from disrespectful behaviors. In the case of students, there will be one warning only. After that, the student may be dropped, according to the teacher’s discretion, if they continue. Examples of such behaviors include, but aren’t limited to:

  • General disrespect for all attendees of lessons
  • Disrespectful gestures, i.e.:
    • eye rolling
    • smirking and/or laughing dismissively
    • muttered and loudly expressed passive aggressive comments
    • frequent mentions of sensitive issues which are not appropriate in a classroom

Truncation Clause: Both parties have the right to truncate a lesson at any time for any reason, but payment for the lesson will not be refunded for truncation. The instructor agrees not to truncate the class for unjust reasons.
